Tasting Notes
Sparky, a flat-coated retriever/border collie mix, presents our 2006 Pinot Noir
from the Alder Springs Vineyard located in the coastal mountains of Mendocino County
at 2100 feet above sea level. The high elevation and marine soils produce small
vines with tiny clusters and berries.
Our 2005 Pinot Noir comes in a ruby color package and delivers earthy notes built
on a black cherry foundation with spice and black pepper notes. The wine was aged
in 50% oak for 10 months to allow a softening of the tannins producing a smooth,
velvety finish, framed by solid structure. This wine drinks well now, and should
continue to deliver well over the next 3-5 years.
